Ingredient Exclusion List

We meticulously choose each ingredient to make our candles non toxic. Doing this vastly narrows down which ingredients we are able to allow in our fragrances and blends. Below is a list off the majority of chemicals we exclude. These are all chemicals commonly found in candle fragrances that have no place in ours.

In short, we promise to exclude all of the ingredients below that fall in one of these hazardous groups:

✖ Carcinogens: These are materials known or thought to cause cancer. 
✖ Mutagens: Materials that change the DNA of a cell, harming the cell and causing diseases like cancer. 
✖ Reproductive toxins: Toxins that adversely affect reproductive organs and increase the risk of birth defects. 
✖ Organ toxins: These are toxins that can cause adverse effects or disease within specific bodily organs. 
✖ Acute toxins: Toxins that can cause adverse effects from a single exposure. Generally, this would be accidental exposure like spillage or ingestion.

What we exclude:

Phthalates, including but not limited to BBP, DEHP, DBP, and DEP

Phthalates are esters of Phthalic acid and are used to dissolve raw materials when making fragrance oils. They have been used for decades in a myriad of pharmaceuticals, household, and industrial products.

This was pulled from the Candlesience website and is a collection of ingredients specifically excluded from Candlescience's Clean Scents fragrance oils — the only fragrance oils we tolerate in our candles. Each of their fragrances is carefully developed to strict International Fragrance Association (IFRA) and RIFM (Research Institute for Fragrance Materials) standards.

Because of American manufacturers like this, our candles can be 100% toxin free, devoid of any phthalates or otherwise harmful chemicals.

Based on extensive Candlescience studies, you can be sure that in each of our candles you receive a product that will not cause health issues commonly caused by overusing toxic fragrances.
